Canggu Fight Night 28 is set for Bali on December 30th. The event will be headlined by a welterweight fight with Shamil Shikhshabekov set to take on Matt Vaile.

The MMA scene in Bali is hotting up. Tiger Muay Thai recently opened its doors while Soma Fight Club and Bali MMA have been sending fighters to compete in ONE Championship and the UFC.

This event is set for the Atlas Night Club and will see Vaile (12-2) fighting for the first time in 2023. He has been training at Soma Fight Club but has only competed two times in the past four years.

Shikhshabekov (5-0) is undefeated and fights out of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s camp in Dagestan. Earlier this year he was at Tiger Muay Thai and the Russian also appears to have spent time training in Dubai.

Up and coming

The co-main event features and up and coming bantamweight prospect. Agulali (9-1) will be fighting outside of China for the first time and faces a big step up.

He has been matched with Murad Kurbanov (8-3). The Russian is fighting out of the Dobrynya Gym in Phuket and his previous wins have come at the expense of inexperienced opponents.

Total mystery

Last month Island Fighter’s League 2 took place in Bali. Shannon Wiratchai lost to Dong Guk Shim in the main event but afterwards he called for the result to be overturned.

It isn’t clear what the final decision was because no results from that event have been released. While we know there is some dispute over Wiratchai’s result the outcome of the other nine bouts on that card remains a total mystery.
