The Asian MMA scene has ground to a halt due to the ongoing Coronvavirus, or Covid-19, crisis. So in the absence of live events this website will be launching a new series featuring retrospective event coverage.
Everyone is familiar with modern promotions like ONE Championship and Rizin and stars like Aung La Nsang, Tenshin Nasukawa and Angela Lee. But before them came Pride, among others, which featured living legends like Kazushi Sakuraba, Renzo Gracie and Rickson Gracie.
This website will be covering some of those events with live reports. It will give readers a glimpse into a different era and help younger fans to become familiar with fighters who helped make the sport what it is today.
We will also be featuring some videos of classic fights along with a little background on the circumstances surrounding the contests in question.
This retrospective series will also ensure Asian MMA is able to produce regular content and keep its writers active. First up we travel back to 1997 with a report on Pride 1 and 2004 for a look at Fedor Emelianenko vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira III .
