ONE: ‘A New Era’ is booked for Tokyo on March 31st and the promotion made big moves in Japan this week. In the space of a couple of days ONE Championship announced a broadcast deal with Tokyo TV and the appointment of a former president from Nielsen to the executive team.

Hideyuki ‘Andy’ Hata has been named president of ONE Championship (Japan) and will be responsible for overseeing operations in the country, driving development and growth across all key metrics.

Hata was responsible for all of Nielsen Sports’ business activities in Japan, South Korea and Mainland China. Prior to that he was part of Sony’s global partnership team with FIFA where he spearheaded their global activation strategy for tournaments including the 2010 World Cup.

ONE Championship also announced a partnership with TV Tokyo this week. It will see the free to air television broadcaster offer a range of the promotion’s content to its viewers that includes some live shows.

TV Tokyo will serve as ONE Championship’s official broadcaster in Japan, and together with its group, will also promote ONE Championship content on their various digital platforms including BS TV Tokyo, a nationwide broadcaster via satellite.
