ONE Championship has partnered with Indonesian promotion One Pride MMA. According to the Jakarta Post the deal will see the two organizations work to ‘elevate and develop a generation of global Indonesian martial artists (and) produce content for distribution in Indonesia’.

One Pride MMA was founded in 2016 and is owned and operated by free to air Indonesian TV news channel tv One. The events take place at a studio in Jakarta and recently resumed after a Covid-19 related pause.

Speaking to the Jakarta Post ONE Championship group president Hua Fung Teh stated that the partnership would help Indonesian fighters achieve global recognition,

“Together, the two organizations will work to elevate local heroes into global superstars,” he said.

Ardiansyah Bakrie, the CEO of tv One, was also excited by the possibility of seeing Indonesian fighters compete on an international stage,

“We envision One Pride MMA athletes contributing to the global stage of ONE Championship, further ensuring that more Indonesian athletes will emerge as Asian MMA icons,” he said.

ONE Championship has put on 16 events in Jakarta to date. The first took place in 2012 and the most recent was held in February.

Several ONE Pride MMA champions have gone on to sign with ONE Championship including Abro Fernandes, Fajar and Eko Priandono. One Pride MMA commentator Fransino Tirta is a former ONE Championship fighter.
