Earlier this evening Chatri Sityodtong announced his promotion’s first major event since lockdown began. ONE: ‘No Surrender’ will take place on July 31st in Thailand.

Last weekend ONE Hero Series 13 and ONE Hero Series 14 were held in Shanghai. Both events were held behind closed doors and televised exclusively in China.

Next month the promotion will put on a full scale event for the first time since February. There will also be 12 fights held at the undisclosed venue in Thailand which will be broadcast at a later date.

Thailand currently has tight restrictions for anyone travelling from overseas. At present only Thai nationals and work permit holders are allowed to enter, with a mandatory two week quarantine.

However those restrictions are set to be relaxed slightly on July 1st. So it is possible fighters from overseas might be able to compete at ONE: ‘No Surrender’, as long as they were able to enter the country and complete their quarantine in time for the fight card.

There are numerous fighters on the ONE Championship roster who are based in Thailand. So it is quite possible the promotion could put on a full fight card without bringing in anyone from outside the country.

After a hiatus that has lasted several months Muay Thai will return to Thailand in July. However live audiences are not currently allowed, so upcoming events will be exclusively for the benefit of television viewers.
