Giorgio Petrosyan and Petchmorrakot Peytchyindeeacademy faced off in Kuala Lumpur yesterday ahead of Friday night’s rematch at ONE: ‘Masters of Destiny’.
It was not the first time the two featherweights had gone head to head. They fought last month at ONE: ‘Enter the Dragon’ with the Thai fighter claiming a controversial split decision win.
The bout served as the quarter final of ONE Championship’s ongoing Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix. With $1 million at stake for the winner of the eight man tournament Petchmorrakot’s surprise win over Petrosyan sent shockwaves through the kickboxing world.
Unfortunately for the Thai fighter the decision win was overturned, as he was deemed to have used illegal clinching to win the second and third rounds. An immediate rematch was ordered and the two will go head to head for the second time at the Axiata Arena on Friday night.
The card also features Angela Lee. She will go up against former Evolve MMA training partner and team mate Michelle Nicolini in a strawweight fight while Ev Ting faces UFC veteran Daichi Abe in the lightweight division.
