The MMA world was stunned today to learn of the death of Kyle Reyes. The 30 year old died following complications caused by surgery to a torn bicep and a broken hand according to TMZ.

Reyes fought nine times for PXC, facing the likes of Rolando Dy, Yusuke Yachi and Alexander Volkanovski. He had a record of 15-7 and trained at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

Dy, who beat Reyes by decision at PXC 39 in Manila, paid tribute to his former foe in an emotional Instagram post:

That was the first defeat of Reyes’ career and a big win for Dy who would go on to fight for the UFC and win the UAE Warriors featherweight title. The 30 year old’s final fight was at ACA 104 in Russia last year where he was stopped by Bibert Tumenov.

Although Reyes wasn’t one of the many PXC fighters to be picked up by the UFC he did travel all over the world to fight. He competed in Russia, Australia and the Philippines as well as fighting numerous times in the US and his native Guam.
