A lightweight tournament will get underway at Road FC 64. The quarter finals will take place at Wonju Gymnasium on June 24th.

Park Si Won (8-0) is coming off a win at Road FC 62 and will probably be the favourite. He has been matched with Japan based Cameroonian Mark Moleke (13-9), more commonly referred to as Max the Body.

Park is one of three Korean quarter finalists. Park Hae Jin (10-2) will take on Shutaro Debana (8-4) while Tae Young Yoon (5-1) has been matched with Russia’s Artur Soloviev (7-6).

The fourth quarter final features a Road FC veteran. Mongolia’s Nandin-Erdene Munguntsooj (15-8) has fought 16 times for the promotion and will be matched with Brazilian Filipe Jesus (8-4) here.

In the alternate bout two Koreans face off for the right to step in if one of the semi finalists withdraws. Je Woo Yeo (5-2)  faces Sang Kwon Han (1-3).

Previous tournament

Road FC’s last lightweight tournament took place in 2019. Mansour Barnaoui went on to win the tournament and become the lightweight champion after beating A Sol Kwon.

On that occasion the champion did not participate in the tournament. As a result A Sol Kwon spent over two years on the sidelines before fighting the tournament winner.

This time around the promotion has thrown its lightweight champion into the tournament. Si Won Park won the belt at Road FC 61 last year and has successfully defended it once.
