Earlier today Rizin confirmed the ruleset for the bout between Takanori Gomi and Kouzi. It will be a glorified boxing match with 12oz gloves, judges and a three knockdown rule.

The bout is set for Rizin 26 on Thursday and the promotion took to Twitter to confirm the unique ruleset:

It is an unconventional fight and both men will also have different weigh in limits. Gomi will be required to tip the scales at 75kgs while Kouzi is required to come in much lighter at 65kgs.

There will potentially be a 10kg weight difference between the two men in fight night as well as an 11 year age difference. This will be Gomi’s first fight since 2018 while Kouzi competes regularly in kickboxing.

There will be no kicking, this is basically a boxing match in which spinning back fists are permitted. The three knockdown rule is in effect and both men will wear 12oz gloves.

However this will be a real fight rather than an exhibition. A winner will be declared and there are similarities with the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Tenshin Nasukawa that took place at Rizin 14 on New Year’s Eve in 2018.
