A bantamweight tournament will get underway at Road FC 64. The quarter finals will all take place at Wonju Gymnasium on June 24th and among the fighters confirmed is Soo Chul Kim.
Kim (18-7-1) is the reigning Road FC featherweight champion and former bantamweight champion and was the inaugural ONE Championship bantamweight champion. He is coming off a debatable split decision loss to Juan Archuleta in a Rizin 135lbs title eliminator.
He was a young prodigy but took several years off during his prime. The 31 year old has been matched with Russia’s Aleksey Indenko (8-4) in the opening round of the tournament.

Previous tournament
Road FC’s last lightweight tournament took place in 2019. Mansour Barnaoui went on to win the tournament and become the lightweight champion after beating A Sol Kwon.
On that occasion the champion did not participate in the tournament. As a result A Sol Kwon spent over two years on the sidelines before fighting the tournament winner.
This time around the promotion has thrown its lightweight champion into the tournament. Si Won Park won the belt at Road FC 61 last year and has successfully defended it once.
