The rampant misinformation surrounding Covid-19 appears to have affected a few fighters. John Wayne Parr was recently hospitalized after deciding not to get vaccinated and he is definitely not the only one.
But with borders closed to unvaccinated travelers it is a big decision for fighters who make their living from competing overseas. For Stamp Fairtex it was an easy choice,
“I need to travel so I had to get vaccinated. Everyone should get vaccinated, it is the only way we will defeat Covid-19,” she said.
With Singapore currently not allowing unvaccinated travelers to enter fighters like JWP, who decide not to get the jab, will be unable to compete. But ONE Championship has 24 bouts confirmed for January which suggests that the majority of fighters on the roster have been double jabbed.
Stamp won the atomweight Grand Prix last year. She is guaranteed a title shot and her next fight will be against returning champion Angela Lee.
There is no date set for this atomweight title fight but it will be one of the biggest ONE Championship fights of the year.
