Supergirl Jaroonsakgym found out about Anissa Meksen’s comeback just days before her atomweight kickboxing fight with Cristina Morales. She returns to the ring on Saturday morning and will be looking to score her second win of the year.
Earlier this week it was announced that Meksen would be fighting for the first time in 2023. She is set to face Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom in an interim atomweight kickboxing title fight at ONE Friday Fights 46.
In an interview with SCMP MMA the 19 year old seemed more interested in talking about Meksen than Morales,
“I’m a Thai fighter but Anissa Meksen is my idol!”

Strong and good
Given that Supergirl is Thai you might think she would be cheering for Phetjeeja this December. That definitely won’t be the case and when asked to pick a winner the teenager had no hesitation,
“I see her as stronger and her technical kickboxing is better than Phetjeeja so Anissa makes sense.”
Meksen has proved to be quite a divisive figure since signing with ONE Championship. Stamp Fairtex still hasn’t forgiven the French fighter for no showing the weigh ins ahead of their scheduled bout at ONE Fight Night 6.
Stamp ended up fighting Supergirl instead and winning by way of a close and contentious split decision. But while there are some fighters on the roster who clearly aren’t Meksen fans Supergirl clearly isn’t one of them,
“I like to watch her fights a lot, she’s strong and she’s a good person too.”

Good year
Supergirl earned a $50,000 USD bonus for that fight with Stamp. She has squeezed in three fights in 2023 meaning that it has probably been a good year for the teenager financially speaking.
She is no longer dependent upon her fighting career for income though. Supergirl starred in a modelling shoot earlier this year and made it clear she would be open to more of these assignments,
“This this my first time of being a model thank. From now on I’ll also accept (modelling) jobs as well.”
The 19 year old is in demand both on the catwalk and in the ring. Supergirl has the world at her feet and would love to secure a shot at the interim atomweight title and her idol with a win over Morales on Saturday.
