A featherweight fight has been added to the Shooto 0329 card. Taison Naito faces Shohei Nose at the Korakuen Hall on March 29th.
Naito (10-7-1) has spent virtually his entire career competing for Shooto. He went on a four fight losing skid that lasted for an entire year between 2017 and 2018.
But the 30 year old is coming off an impressive second round stoppage win over Jin Aoi on the Shooto 30th Anniversary Tour last year. He stopped the young prospect with ground and pound.
Nose (3-0-2) is undefeated but has drawn two of his five fights. He had a successful amateur career and was undefeated before turning pro in 2018.
Nose drew his first two fights. But he has won three in a row culminating in a split decision win over Mitsuhiro Taki at Road to ONE: ‘Century’.
The other alteration to the card sees Mirai Nakamura step in to replace Ye Ji Lee in the semi final of the atomweight tournament. The Chinese fighter was presumably unable to travel due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
For Nakamura (2-1) it will be a quick turnaround. She is coming off a decision win over Takumi Umehara on a Shooto card in mid February.
She faces Megumi Sugimoto (4-1). Meanwhile tournament favourite Mina Kurobe has been matched with Saori Oshima in the other semi final.
As previously announced Shooto 0329 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight pitting Duane van Helvoirt against Yutaka Saito. The event will also feature a a bantamweight bout between Tatsuya Ando and Motonobu Tezuka.
