Duane van Helvoirt’s reward for winning back to back Shooto fights in 2019 is a title shot. He will challenge Yutaka Saito on March 29th for the Japanese fighter’s featherweight belt.

Shooto 0329 looks set to press ahead at the time of writing despite other events in Tokyo getting postponed or cancelled. The show is set to take place at the Korakuen Hall and be open to the public.

Van Helvoirt (19-8) is coming off back to back decision wins over Japanese legends. He beat Caol Uno at Shooto 30th Anniversary Tour in Tokyo and Takeshi Inoue at Shooto 30th Anniversary Tour 6th Round.

Saito (17-4-2) is coming off a first round stoppage win over Hiroyuki Takaya at Shooto 30th Anniversary Tour 7th Round. He has held the title since 2015 but has only defended it twice.

As previously announced the event will feature a a bantamweight bout between Tatsuya Ando and Motonobu Tezuka. Meanwhile Kiyotaka Shimizu faces Tatsuro Taira in the flyweight division.

The card will also feature the semi finals of the atomweight tournament. Saori Oshima faces Mina Kurobe while Ye Ji Lee has been matched with Megumi Sugimoto.

Meanwhile Takamasa Kiuchi faces Ryohei Kurosawa in a flyweight fight.
