Tiger Shroff will be cageside at Matrix Fight Night 12 this weekend. The Bollywood star is better known for playing characters who fight in movies then being a fan of actual fights.

But he was one of the founders of Matrix Fight Night which is owned and operated by the Shroff family. The actor doesn’t always attend the live events, he is currently filming three separate movies so probably has his hands full.

But Tiger will be cageside at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Uttar Pradesh this Saturday. He took time out to pose with his sister, Krishna Shroff, who also co-founded Matrix Fight Night but is much more hands on:

Action movies

Tiger is clearly the most recognizable member of the family these days with 36.7 million followers on Instagram. While he doesn’t have any actual fighting experience he has been acting in action movies for decades.

Last year Tiger travelled to Phuket and decided to test out some of his move against an actual fighter in a light sparring session. He shared some footage filmed at Bang Tao Muay Thai.

As you can see he quickly discovered playing a fighter in Bollywood movies is no substitute for actual Muay Thai experience:

Bad publicity

The fight card will be headlined by a featherweight fight between Khabibullo Azizov and Mochamed Machaev. It will be the first one put together by Krishna Shroff.

Previous matchmaker Alan Fenandes was unceremoniously stripped of his role in a management reshuffle earlier this year. He subsequently announced he would be taking Matrix Fight Night to court.

Last year there was a riot at Matrix Fight Night 9. In the aftermath the promotion announced it was banning all Afghan fighters, with Abdul Azim Badakhshi blamed for leading a mob that attacked an Indian fighter.

Badakhshi also happens to be Krishna Shroff’s long term boyfriend and this rift made headlines all over India. He has not fought since, despite being booked for a Road to UFC event.

The family will be hoping that this weekend’s event goes more smoothly. Badakhshi definitely won’t be in attendance but there will be some Bollywood celebrities sitting cageside at Matrix Fight Night 12.
