If you have been following ONE Championship‘s heavyweight division you will know that trading punches with Kang Ji Won is a bad idea. Unfortunately English newcomer Paul Elliott didn’t get the memo!
He went toe to toe with the Korean at ONE: ‘X’ and paid the price:
Kang Ji Won 🇰🇷 FLOORS Paul Elliott with a massive straight right for his third knockout in ONE! 👊 #WeAreONE #ONEChampionship#ONEX | PPV: 8PM SGT/8AM ET | Order PPV: https://t.co/eBUfsODAFL pic.twitter.com/J7Qj1b4eYy

Won initially walks off to celebrate and then suddenly realizes that the referee hasn’t stopped the fight and charges in to land some follow up shots. Fortunately the official saw sense and decided to save Elliott from any further punishment.
Won did the same thing to Amir Aliakbari. The Korean definitely isn’t the biggest fighter in the heavyweight division but he might just be the most powerful!
In fairness to Elliott, who was making his ONE Championship debut, he did have his moments. But deciding to go toe to toe with Won was clearly a mistake.
A right hook from the Korean did the damage. It is the type of performance which typically earns a fighter a $50,000 USD bonus from Chatri Sityodtong but it remains to be seen whether the Korean will pocket the cash.
We think he earned it!
