ONE: ‘Reign of Valor’ is set for Yangon on March 8th and will be headlined by a welterweight title fight. Zebaztian Kadestam will be making the first defence of his belt against Georgiy Kichigin at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium.
Kadestam (11-4) scored a very late stoppage against Tyler McGuire to claim the vacant belt at ONE: ‘Warrior’s Dream’ last year. It was second time lucky for the Swedish welterweight who was stopped by Ben Askren in his first attempt at the title.
Kichigin (20-5) is the Fight Nights welterweight champion and has not lost a fight since 2014. He’s coming off a first round stoppage win over UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares and signed for ONE Championship on the back of a 14 fight winning streak.
Two big name welterweights are set to make their ONE Championship debuts this year. UFC veterans Sage Northcutt and Yoshihiro Akiyama were both added to the roster towards the end of 2018.
One fighter who won’t be competing on March 8th is Aung La Nsang. The two division Burmese champion has featured in the last six events in Yangon but has a bout booked at ONE: ‘A new Era’ on March 31st.
