Yoshinori Horie’s reward for a spectacular KO win at Pancrase 303 is a UFC contract. The Japanese featherweight is booked to face Hakeem Dawodu in Edmonton next month.

UFC 240 will see Horie make his promotional debut alongside Korean featherweight Choi Seung-Woo. Both men will be looking to make their mark on the 145lbs division at Rogers Place on July 27th.

Horie (8-1) has spent his entire career with Pancrase, establishing himself as one of the top contenders in the featherweight division. The only loss of the 24 year old’s career came at the hands of UFC veteran Issei Tamura last year.

By contrast Dawodu (9-1-1) is already a veteran of three UFC fights who also fought eight times for WSOF. The Canadian is coming off back to back decision wins and is sure to have the crowd behind him in Edmonton.

As previously announced Seung-Woo has been matched with Gavin Tucker. This will be the Korean’s second fight for the promotion and he will be looking for his first win after coming up short in his promotional debut against Movsar Evloev at UFC St. Petersburg last month.

UFC 240 will be headlined by a featherweight title tilt between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar. Former 145lbs champion Cris Cyborg is also in action, taking on Felicia Spencer in the co-main event.
