Shooto 0628 is set for Osaka on June 28th. The event will be headlined by a lightweight title fight pitting champion Yuki Kawana against challenger Shutaro Debana.

The promotion announced the matchup on Twitter:

Kawana (15-4-5) had an unsuccessful stint with the PFL in 2018, losing three fights out of three. He bounced back to beat Yuki Okano at Shooto 0127 last year.

He won the title in 2017, stopping Hiroki Aoki with a right uppercut. It was his third time challenging for the belt, he had lost and drawn the previous two title bouts.

Debana (5-2) is a submission specialist who features regularly at Quintet Fight Night. The 35 year old started MMA relatively late in life, making his pro debut in 2017.

He won two fights out of two in 2019, stopping Hiroki Aoki at Shooto 1124 and claiming a decision win over Yutaka Ueda at Shooto 0630.

Next up for the long running Japanese promotion is Shooto 0329. That event is set for Tokyo on March 29th and will be headlined by a featherweight title fight pitting champion Yutaka Saito against challenger Duane van Helvoirt.

While events all across the world are being cancelled due to the coronavirus promotions in Japan seem determined to continue. In kickboxing action K’Festa 3 is set for Tokyo on Sunday.
