Max Holloway is injured and will not be fighting featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski at UFC 272. The search is on for a replacement and it seems that The Korean Zombie is set to step in.

Volkanovski appeared to confirm that Chan Sun Jung would be replacing Holloway in a Tweet just now:

UFC 272 is set for Las Vegas on March 5th. Volkanovski (23-1) was set to fight Holloway foe the third time. The Australian had won both the previous fights but they were close and competitive.

With Holloway out it seems that Jung (17-6) will be handed an opportunity to challenge for the UFC featherweight title for the second time. In 2004 he took on Jose Aldo, the Brazilian won by way of fourth round stoppage.

Jung (17-6) is coming off a decision win over Dan Ige at UFC Vegas 29. He prepared for that bout at Fight Ready in Arizona and announced he would be using it as a base for all future fights.

With around two months until UFC 272 it might be difficult for Jung to arrange an overseas training camp. But Volkanovski expects to face the Korean and his management made it clear to MMA Junkie that he would accept the fight.

Jung is currently ranked #4 and lost his penultimate fight. He wasn’t expected to be in line for a title shot but Holloway’s injury appears to have opened the door for The Korean Zombie to challenge for the UFC featherweight title for a second time.
