Alma Juniku is making a comeback. The Australian star challenged for the ONE Championship atomweight Muay Thai title in 2019 but has been out of action for over a year.
It seems she has been dealing with some other injury issues. But the 21 year old appears to be on the comeback trail:

Big reputation
Juniku was one of the top atomweights in the world when ONE Championship started putting on kickboxing and Muay Thai fights. She was handed a title shot on her promotional debut and pushed Stamp Fairtex hard, eventually dropping a decision to the Thai champion.
She lost her next two ONE Championship fights, although one of those defeats came at the hands of reigning atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai champion Janet Todd. Juniku was one of the most promising prospects, earning multiple titles while still a teenager.

Stacked division
ONE Championship’s atomweight division is stacked with talented fighters. Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen are meeting in a mixed rules fight at ONE on Prime Video 6 next month. Meanwhile Janet Todd and Allycia Rodrigues are scheduled to face off in a unification fight.
Todd and Rodrigues were scheduled to face off at ONE on Prime Video 5. But the American tested positive for Covid-19 just days before the event and the bout was scrapped.
Meanwhile Meksen has been on a roll competing in kickboxing and Muay Thai. She has won three fights out of three and looks in pole position for a title shot regardless of the outcome of her mixed rules fight.
Juniku’s former foe Stamp appears to be more focused on her MMA career these days. But having agreed to participate in a mixed rules bout it is possible she might consider competing in Muay Thai or kickboxing again.
There are plenty of potential opponents out there for the Australian. With 105,000 Instagram followers Juniku remains one of the most popular female fighters on the roster even though she hasn’t fought for the promotion in over a year.
