ONE Championship has brought in a newcomer to challenge Janet Todd for the vacant atomweight Muay Thai title and Anissa Meksen doesn’t sound very happy about it. The French fighter has been calling for a title shot for over a year and cannot understand why she has been overlooked.
Meksen, who has won two fights out of two for ONE Championship, took to Instagram to vent her frustration:

Call outs
She calls Janet Todd ‘a chicken’ for refusing to fight her. Meksen also questions why the American’s coach has said in private that this is the fight to make but refuses to acknowledge it publicly.
Meksen also calls out Stamp Fairtex! She says she will be ready and waiting to face the former atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai champion if she decided to return to her roots after a couple of years spent focusing exclusively on Muay Thai.
Meksen has certainly had a lot to say for herself since signing for ONE Championship. She has been calling for a fight with Todd for years and has underlined her title credentials every time she has competed for the promotion.
Anissa Meksen's ONE debut was awe-inspiring 🤯

Death ears
Last time out Meksen absolutely dominated Marie Ruumet at ONE 156. Afterwards she called for a fight with Todd but those calls appear to be falling on death ears.
The atomweight Muay Thai title was the property of Allycia Rodrigues. But the Brazilian recently gave birth and, unlike Angela Lee, she does not appear to be in a rush to return and defend her title.
So an interim champion will be crowned at ONE 159. Todd already holds the atomweight kickboxing belt but came up short last time she challenged for the Muay Thai strap.
That was back in 2019 when she dropped a decision to Stamp Fairtex. She would go on to avenge that defeat in a kickboxing bout to earn her first ONE Championship title.
Todd will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Stamp by holding two ONE Championship titles in different sports concurrently. Meanwhile Meksen is training hard but doesn’t currently have a bout booked.
It seems a matter of when, not if, Meksen and Todd end up fighting one another. But the French fighter is in a hurry and her patience appears to be wearing thin!
