Ben Askren has taken to Twitter to weigh in on one of the hottest debates of the week. The ONE Championship and UFC veteran does not believe that transgender male athletes should be allowed to compete against females.

He went as far as to say that anyone who does think so doesn’t understand sports:

The debate has been raging after swimmer Lia Thomas became the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division 1 title. It is an achievement that not everyone was impressed by with many, including Askren, questioning whether she should have been allowed to compete against biological women.

Askren has a reputation for being outspoken. It is one of the things that made him such an attractive proposition to the UFC who agreed to trade him with ONE Championship, sending Demetrious Johnson in the opposite direction.

While Johnson has the more impressive record it is Askren who attracts more attention on social media, because he is not afraid to share his thoughts on topics like this.
