Chatri Sityodtong has weighed in on the current war of words between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. The ONE Championship head honcho doesn’t appear to have too much sympathy for the latter.
As well as being the ONE Championship CEO he is also a brown belt in BJJ and the founder of Evolve MMA. So Chatri knows a thing or two about training and was very impressed with Zuckerberg’s setup,
Chatri trained with the Meta CEO fairly recently and says Zuckerberg is serious about becoming a mixed martial artist,
I trained with Mark at his house a few months ago together with his teammates under Professor Dave (Camarillo). As a brown belt under Renzo Gracie, I can tell you that the training environment was truly world-class with utmost seriousness and intensity.
Most men
Chatri also knows a thing or two about putting on fights. ONE Championship was founded in 2011 and since then he has literally put together thousands of matchups.
Based on this experience he thinks Musk is a classic example of someone who massively overestimates their fighting ability because they have never actually trained or competed,
Elon genuinely knows nothing about fighting or martial arts despite his claims to the contrary. As a lifelong expert martial artist who has been in my fair share of scraps, I can tell simply by the way he is acting.
He thinks that Musk, who owns and operates Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), has a ‘false sense of bravado’,
The problem with most men who have never fought and/or trained seriously in martial arts is exactly what Elon is doing. They have a false sense of bravado and no understanding or appreciation for what technical skills and knowledge can do in a fight.

Empty threats
Zuckerberg recently shared a message from Musk who wanted to travel to his house to fight him. A series of tweets followed in which the South African claimed to be on his way there.
Chatri took exception to this behaviour and accused Musk of being a bully,
A few hours ago, Elon said that he was planning to show up to Mark’s house to fight him. Elon is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in history and I have a lot of respect for his guts, accomplishments, and intellect. However, I dislike bullying of any kind.

Diversionary tactics
He also believes that Musk is using diversionary tactics because he doesn’t actually want to fight Zuckerberg. It is something Chatri has experienced many times during the course of his career as a promoter,
When people want to fight, they accept a fight and simply show up. When people don’t want to fight, they do exactly what Elon has been doing. They make up excuses, conditions, and reasons for avoiding the fight.
At this stage no-one is seriously expecting Musk to fight. But Zuckerberg is clearly very serious about making his MMA debut and it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if he ended up competing on a ONE Championship card.
