Davit Kiria will be fighting on a ONE Championship card in May. The Georgian will be looking to bounce back after losing to Sittichai Sitsongpeenong in the semi finals of the featherweight kickboxing Grand Prix.

He told his fans on Facebook that his next fight was signed and sealed and would be happening next month:

Sole win

Kiria won the Kunlun <70kgs tournament in 2019. Since signing for ONE Championship he has lost two fights out of three but the defeats came at the hands of two of the best kickboxers on the roster.

At ONE: ‘Fists of Fury’ he was beaten by Giorgio Petrosyan who is widely regarded as being one of the best kickboxers of all time. His sole win for the promotion came at the expense of Enriko Kehl who he stopped in the first round of the featherweight kickboxing Grand Prix quarter finals.

Best kickboxers

ONE Championship has succeeded in signing up all the best kickboxers in Kiria’s division. Chingiz Allazov is the reigning featherweight Grand Prix winner while Superbon Banchamek became the featherweight champion after knocking out Petrosyan.

Next up for Sittichai will be a title defence against Allazov. But Kiria is just one of a number of top featherweights coming off losses with Sittichai, Petrosyan and Marat Grigorian all in a similar situation.

So there are plenty of potential opponents out there for him and it will be interesting to see who the 34 year old is matched with in May. ONE Championship’s featherweight kickboxing division ahs delivered with some thrilling fights and crazy upsets and Kiria will be looking to show he is among the top contenders.
