K-1 Rebirth 2 is set for the Edion Arena in Osaka on December 9th. In the main event Hiromi Wajima will be defending his super welterweight title against Ouyang Feng.

These events were launched to try and recapture the promotion’s glory days and the main event could easily have been a K-1 Max final. Wajima has won his last eight fights and beaten the likes of Jordann Pikeur, Jomthong Chuwattana and Minoru Kimura during this streak.

He will be making the third defence of the title he won by knocking out Kimura in 2021. Feng is the reigning WLF lightweight champion and supposedly has 20-30 wins in China but there is very little information available about his previous opponents.

Mystery opponent

K-1 initially announced that Kana would be fighting a mystery opponent. This led to a frenzy of speculation that she might be matched with Anissa Meksen who was involved in a contract dispute with ONE Championship at the time.

That fight never materialized. Instead Meksen will be fighting Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom at ONE Friday Fights 46 next month while Antonia Prifti challenges Kana for her flyweight title.

Prifti has won a handful of titles in Europe but is nowhere near as experienced as her opponent. Kana is the former Krush flyweight champion and also won the K-1 flyweight tournament in 2019.

Four titles

There will be four title fights on the card Turkey’s Hasan Toy will be putting his middleweight belt on the line against Japanese fighter Shintaro Matsukura.

Meanwhile Toma Kuroda defends his bantamweight belt against Issei Ishii in an all Japanese title match. Meanwhile reigning K-1 super featherweight champion Leona Pettas faces Rémi Parra in a non title bout.
