Loma Lookboonmee will become the first Thai fighter to ever compete for the UFC next month. The atomweight will be moving up 10lbs to take on Aleksandra Albu in Singapore on October 26th.
Loma (3-1) is just 23 years old. The Tiger Muay Thai trained fighter is a veteran of two Invicta FC bouts and the sole blemish on her record came at the hands of Suwanan Boonsorn at Full Metal Dojo 16.
Albu (3-1) is already a veteran of three UFC fights. However the Moldovan is one of the smaller fighters in the strawweight division so Loma should have no qualms about jumping up in weight to make her maiden octagon appearance.
Also added to the UFC Singapore card is a middleweight bout pitting Ian Heinisch (13-2) against Brad Tavares (17-5). The former has won five out of his last six while the latter has won four out of his last five.
As previously announced Ben Askren will face Demian Maia in the main event of UFC Fight Night 162. The American is a former ONE Championship welterweight champion and has fought in the Singapore Indoor Stadium several times.
The card will also feature Greg Hardy who has been matched with Jarjis Danho. That is one of three heavyweight bouts on the card. In the others Ciryl Gané goes up against Don’Tale Mayes while Sergei Pavlovich takes on Maurice Greene.
UFC on ESPN+ 15 took place in Shenzhen last month while UFC 242 was held in Abu Dhabi last weekend. There is also an event set for Busan on December 21st meaning that the promotion has two cards booked in Asia between now and the end of the year.
