Mark Striegl is out of UFC on ESPN 15. The Fil-Am bantamweight has been replaced by Trevin Jones who will face Timur Valiev at the Apex Centre on Saturday night (local time).
Striegl (18-2) is the reigning URCC featherweight champion. He was dropping down to 135lbs to make his UFC debut in Las Vegas.
Stepping in to replace him is Jones (12-6). Like Striegl he is a PXC veteran and was the bantamweight champion with the now defunct promotion.
It remains to be seen why Striegl was forced to withdraw. Since the UFC resumed putting on regular fight cards numerous fighters have pulled out after testing positive for Covid-19.
The event is headlined by a bantamweight fight between Pedro Munhoz and Frankie Edgar. It will also feature Japanese flyweight Mizuki Inoue and Japanese welterweight Takashi Sato.
