Nyrene Crowley replaces Bi Nguyen, faces Itsuki Hirata at ONE: ‘Warrior’s Code’
Nyrene Crowley will make her ONE Championship debut in Jakarta next month. The New Zealander has accepted a late notice fight against undefeated Japanese atomweight Itsuki Hirata.
Hirata (2-0) was initially scheduled to face Bi Nguyen at ONE: ‘Warrior’s Code’ but the Vietnamese American fighter pulled out due to injury. Instead the 20 year old finds herself matched with a ONE Warrior Series veteran ten years her senior.
Crowley (3-2) is based at Bali MMA. She has fought four times for ONE Warrior Series and won two of those bouts but is coming off back to back losses to Michele Ferreira in 2019.
As previously announced former middleweight title challenger Leandro Ataides will return at ONE: ‘Warrior’s Code’ in Jakarta next month. The Brazilian is slated to face Reiner de Ridder at Istora Senayan on February 7th.
Meanwhile former featherweight champion Marat Gafurov will be looking to register back to back wins for the first time since 2016. He has been matched with undefeated Romanian Iuri Lapicus in a lightweight fight.
The event will be headlined by a Muay Thai fight between Petchmorrakot Petchyindeeacademy and Jamal Yusupov which has the inaugural featherweight title on the line.
