Jinh Yu Frey has signed with the UFC. The Rizin and Road FC veteran is set to face Kay Hansen in a short notice strawweight fight on Saturday.
At Rizin 16 last year she was handed a super atomweight title shot against Ayaka Hamasaki. Frey came up short, dropping a decision to the experienced Japanese fighter.
At Road FC 45 in 2017 she challenged Seo Hee Ham for the promotion’s atomweight title but was stopped in the opening round. The Korean would go on to snatch the Rizin 108lbs title from Hamasaki last year.
Frey (9-4) was the Invicta FC atomweight champion but was forced to relinquish the belt after missing weight. Hansen (6-3) has made the same move, leaving the all female promotion to sign with the UFC.
UFC on ESPN 12 will also feature Takashi Sato. The Japanese welterweight will face Ramiz Brahimaj in Las Vegas next Saturday (local time).
The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker. It will be held behind closed doors at the UFC’s own venue in Las Vegas.
