Shooto 0531 is going ahead as planned. The event will be held at an undisclosed venue and will not be open to the general public.
The promotion took to Twitter to make the announcement:
5/31プロフェッショナル修斗公式戦はABEMAでのテレビマッチとして開催! https://t.co/TZf8TqIUWU#ABEMA #shooto0531
— MMA-SHOOTO オフィシャル 修斗 (@xshooto) May 3, 2020
Pancrase 315 was scheduled to take place in Tokyo on the same date but was cancelled. Having successfully put on the Road to ONE 2 event last month Shooto does have experience of holding fight cards during the pandemic.
There will be a few changes. The weigh ins will now take place on the same day as the fights and everyone will automatically be moved up a division.
This is similar to the system operated by ONE Championship, albeit without the hydration tests. So instead of cutting weight to make 145lbs two featherweights would simply be required to weigh 155lbs or less on fight night.
Fighters will not be allowed to remain in the venue after their matches and will be required to register their temperature every day in the build up to the fight, as well as undergoing temperature checks on fight night.
The entire event will be broadcast live on Abema TV. No fights have been confirmed at the time of writing.
