Stamp Fairtex is known for her world class Muay Thai skills. But she would love nothing more than to surprise American grappler Alyse Anderson with a submission when they meet at ONE Fight Night 10 next month.
Anderson has made it clear that she believes her ground game is superior to Stamp’s. The Thai is not going to argue that point but would like nothing better than to win with a submission of her own,
“She’s correct. Let her believe it that way. Because if I beat her during the ground fight, similar to how I beat Ritu with an armbar, it will surprise everyone.”

More skilled
Phogat is a wrestler but Stamp finished her with an armbar in the second round to win the atomweight Grand Prix. Given her Muay Thai credentials the 25 year old expects every opponent to try and take her down and says that has been the cause throughout her MMA career,
“Of course, I’m good at the stand-up part of the game. Every opponent has tried to put me on the ground. They always tried to take me down. My strength is my stand-up game. This is what I will bring to the fight.”
While Stamp thinks she might be able to spring a surprise on the ground she doesn’t sound too intimidated by her opponent’s striking,
“I am more skilled in terms of Muay Thai and kickboxing. And in the ground game, maybe I am inferior, but I think I will have the advantage and will come out on top in our striking exchanges.”

Former opponent
She has been training with former opponent Jihin Radzuan. The Malaysian is a BJJ purple belt and has been helping with that aspect of the game,
“It’s great to have Jihin helping because Jihin’s ground game is quite good. Training with her, she’s always nice, smiling and helping me on technical aspects,” Stamp explains.
Her path to victory is clear. Stamp needs to keep the fight standing and punish Anderson in the stand up exchanges and that is exactly what she plans to do,
“For my preparations, I have to defend takedowns and show my Muay Thai skills when I create the opportunity to strike.”
