Stephen Loman has to wait a long time to make his ONE Championship debut. He saw a bout with John Lineker fall through at the last minute due to Covid-19.

It would be eight months before Loman finally got to fight but it was worth the wait. He knocked out Yusup Saadulaev at ONE: ‘Winter Warriors’ part II and explained how he coped with the cancellations in an emotional Instagram post:

Loman explains that,

“My fight against the #1 contender in the bantamweight division was canceled due to circumstances I couldn’t control. Despite that, I still ignited my faith and believed that when God is silent, He is doing something greater for you.”

According to Loman his faith allowed him to train even harder and the results were there for all to see on his ONE Championship debut. Saadulaev is one of only two men to ever beat reigning flyweight champion Adriano Moraes but the Filipino finished him in under a round.

When the rankings are updated Loman can expect to see his name in the top five and he is within touching distance of a title shot. Good things really do come to those who patiently wait!
