Supergirl Jaroonsakgym wasn’t expecting to face Stamp Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 6. She probably wasn’t expecting the judges to score the fight for her opponent either having clearly got the better of it.
She might not have been expecting the $50,000 USD bonus that came her way a few days later. But despite the defeat Supergirl came away from that contest with new found confidence.
The 19 year old believes she can thrive as a kickboxer and is already calling out the current atomweight champion,
“After fighting with Stamp, a former kickboxing champion, I gained more confidence and I think I can do it too. Winning the championship is the ultimate goal in kickboxing (and) now that I’ve fought with Stamp, I think I’m ready to fight Janet.”

Slow start
Supergirl won her first two ONE Championship fights which were fought under Muay Thai rules. But she admits to feeling some nerves and doesn’t sound particularly happy with her early performances for the promotion.
“After my first and the second fights, I still didn’t have confidence because it was such a huge stage, honestly, and I was not happy with my work then. But the most recent fight between Stamp and me, I grew more confident, even though I lost, because I got to fight with someone with that much more experience! And I did well in that fight, too. So, I’m much more confident.”
She made her kickboxing debut on around 48 hours notice after Anissa Meksen no showed the ONE Fight Night 6 weigh ins. It is a sport Supergirl wants to continue competing in but she does have some concerns,
“There might be little things I need to figure out. I might unintentionally do elbow strikes or grab my opponent’s neck (so) I’ll need to adjust that. Also, I’ll need to improve my speed in order to fight in kickboxing style.”

Leg and head
Her opponent at ONE Fight Night 13 next month is a previous victim of Meksen’s. Cristina Morales has not fought since being stopped by the French fighter in the second round in 2019.
Morales also has a decision loss to K-1 legend Kana on her resume and Supergirl has plenty of respect for her upcoming opponent,
“From what I saw of her fighting with Meksen she is great at combination strikes and how she strikes in upper and lower spots, as well as her kicks. Her combination punches are fast, and powerful.”
It will be a little bit different to what Supergirl is used to in Muay Thai but she thinks that her kicks could slow Morales down,
“Her footwork looks like kickboxing style, and her style is so very boxing-style. So, I might focus more on leg and head kicking.”
While her older sister, Wondergirl Jaroonsakgym, has branched out into MMA and boxing Supergirl is staying true to her roots. But the teenager believes she can enjoy success in kickboxing and will be looking to establish her title credentials with a win in Bangkok next week.
