It is not unheard of for fighters to miss weight and it happened to two of them at yesterday’s ONE Fight Night 6 weigh in. It is unusual for them to simply not turn up to the weigh ins but that is exactly what Anissa Meksen did.
The French fighter is definitely in Bangkok. At least Chatri Sityodtong seemed to think she was when he told fans at the press conference on Wednesday that she was sick.
But Meksen completely failed to turn up to yesterday’s weigh ins ahead of her mixed rules fight with Stamp Fairtex. ONE Championship senior director Ric Auty announced that,
The weigh and hydration window for ONE Fight Night 6 has now concluded. Anissa Meksen has missed the weight and hydration testing window and will therefore not be competing at ONE Fight Night 6.
Meksen and Stamp were supposed to compete in a mixed rules fight. Earlier this week Chatri announced that they would also meet in an atomweight kickboxing title match but the status of that bout must be in doubt.

The ONE Championship officials appeared mystified by Meksen’s absence and it doesn’t appear she informed them she would not be fighting. With the show set to start in 24 hours efforts are underway to find a last minute replacement.
While Meksen is probably the first fighter in the 11 year history of the promotion to simply fail to turn up to the weigh in there were two others who couldn’t make the contracted weight. ONE Championship has a unique procedure that limits the extent to which fighters can dehydrate themselves.
Reigning flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon missed weight but his non title fight with Jiduo Yibu is still on. Auty announced that,
Rodtang Jitmuangnon has not been able to make the contracted weight. He has agreed with his opponent to fight at 136.5lbs.
Ekaterina Vandaryeva also had an issue ahead of her rematch with Supergirl Jaroonsakgym but this fight is also on. It is not clear if the Belarusian had an issue with weight or hydration but Auty told viewers,
Ekaterina Vandaryeva has not been able to make the contracted weight and she will now negotiate a catchweight with her opponent.
