John Wayne Parr is set to fight for the final time. The 45 year old announced on Instagram that his retirement match would take place on an upcoming ONE Championship card:

JWP started competing in kickboxing back in 1988. Nearly a decade later he would be voted as the best foreign fighter competing in Thailand after moving there to train with the legendary Sangtiennoi Sor Rungroj.

The Australian was one of the first foreign fighters to make it big on the Thai scene, winning tournaments at the King’s Cup on two separate occasions. By this stage he was starting to amass a fan following in his native Australia and would go on to fight there frequently.

JWP has been in with the likes of Buakaw Por Pramuk, Yodsanklai Fairtex and Jean-Charles Skarbowsky winning ten different world titles in Muay Thai and kickboxing. His career appears to be coming to an end but ‘The Gunslinger’ wants to ride off into the sunset after one last win.
