The Taliban has gone too far this time. We know they aren’t big on things like music, dancing, women’s rights, democracy and modern healthcare but apparently MMA has been added to the list.
According to MMA Fighting the Taliban has banned MMA. The articles states that local promoters like Abdul Wasi Sharifi are desperate to flee the country.
He is the founder of Truly Grand Fighting Championship which has helped give local fighters like Ahmad Wali Hotak a platform. TGFC 15 took place in May and was headlined by the local favourite.
But it might be a while before we see Hotak in the cage again. He has not been active on social media since August 9th when he called on Kabul residents to help refugees who had fled to the city.
The future for MMA in Afghanistan looks bleak. This time the Taliban has really gone too far.
