ONE Championship has snapped up another elite grappler. Two time ADCC champion Yuri Simoes has put pen to paper on a contract with the promotion.
Simoes has yet to make his MMA debut. But he is a decorated BJJ black belt who earned a ONE Championship deal on the back of an extremely successful submission grappling career.
The 30 year old will be competing in the middleweight division and already has his sights set on reigning champion Aung La Nsang,
“I have a lot of respect for Aung La Nsang and he’s a great champion. They say that in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, and I hope I get that opportunity one day when I earn it. For now, I am really focused on preparing for my first fight against whoever that may be.”
ONE Championship has announced a spate of new signings in recent weeks. BJJ champions Marcus Almeida and Tom DeBlass have signed for the promotion along with Rizin veteran Amir Aliakbari.
