Zhenhong Lu steps in to rematch Movsar Evloev at UFC Shenzhen
The UFC Shenzhen card has received yet another reshuffle. Mike Grundy has pulled out with an injury and been replaced by Zhenhong Lu who will face Movsar Evloev on August 31st.
The Chinese bantamweight will be looking to avenge a 2015 defeat at the hands of Evloev. The two men first fought on an M-1 card with the Russian winning by decision in only his second professional bout.
Meanwhile Lu (18-6) has spent the majority of his career competing in China and has won ten out of his last 11 bouts. He is the reigning WLF 145lbs champion but only comes into this contest as a late replacement, with the matchup being confirmed barely a week before fight night.
As previously announced Weili Zhang faces reigning strawwweight champion Jessica Andrade in Shenzhen on August 31st. She will become the first Chinese fighter to ever challenge for a UFC belt.
Meanwhile Korean middleweight Jun Yong Park, Chinese welterweight Li Jingliang, Chinese flyweight Wu Yanan, Japanese strawweight Mizuki Inoue, Mongolian bantamweight Batgerel Danaa and Asian MMA veteran Kai Kara France will all be involved.
This will be the promotion’s third event in mainland China after cards in Shanghai and Beijing.
