Abu Dhabi Warriors 5 is set for January 26th at the Mubadala Arena. It will be the promotion’s first card since 2016 and will feature at least two heavyweight fights. In the main event Oli Thompson takes on Roman Wehbe while Chi Lewis Parry has been matched with an Egyptian opponent.
Thompson (18-10) is best known for winning the ‘Britain’s Strongest Man’ competition. Since switching his focus to MMA the 39 year old has fought for the UFC, Bellator, KSW and Road FC among others.
Originally from Russia, Wehbe (7-6-0-1) is now based in Dubai. He began his career competing in England and made his debut back in 2006, taking an eight year hiatus from the sport before making a comeback with Phoenix FC in 2017.
In the co-main event Glory and ONE Championship veteran Lewis Parry (6-0-1-2) returns to Asia to take on Ibrahim El Sawi (6-5). The Egyptian has lost his last three while the Englishman is undefeated but neither man has won an MMA fight since 2014.
UFC veteran Rolando Dy (9-7-0-1) will also be on the card. The Filipino featherweight has been matched with Izzeddine Al Derbani (8-1). The Jordanian featherweight has a superior record but the Filipino is entitled to feel he has faced superior opposition.
