Former middleweight title challenger Leandro Ataides will return at ONE: ‘Warrior’s Code’ in Jakarta next month. The Brazilian is slated to face Reinier de Ridder at Istora Senayan on February 7th.
Ataides (11-3) has not fought for 18 months after turning down a title shot in 2018. He is riding a three fight winning streak that includes a stoppage of former middleweight champion Vitaly Bigdash in Jakarta.
Meanwhile de Ridder (11-0) won two fights out of two for the promotion in 2019. The most recent victory came at the expense of Gilbert Galvao at ONE: ‘Legendary Quest’ and this bout has all the makings of a middleweight title eliminator.
Former featherweight champion Marat Gafurov (7-2) will be looking to register back to back wins for the first time since 2016. He has been matched with undefeated Romanian Iuri Lapicus (13-0) in a lightweight fight.
There is also a significant matchup in the atomweight division as Itsuki Hirata (5-0) faces Bi Nguyen (5-5). The former is coming off an impressive submission win at ONE: ‘Century’ and a third straight victory for the promotion could be enough to earn a shot at Angela Lee.
The event will be headlined by a Muay Thai fight between Petchmorrakot Petchyindeeacademy and Jamal Yusupov which has the inaugural featherweight title on the line.
