In April we broke the news that Vitor Belfort would be fighting Alain Ngalani. Today the matchup was finally confirmed by the official ONE Championship website.

With the ONE Championship calendar having been totally disrupted by the coronavirus, or Covid-19, pandemic there is no word on where or when the fight will take place. There is also a question as to what the ruleset will be for this bout, with Ngalani having competed in both kickboxing and MMA.

The Cameroonian, who is based in Hong Kong, has had plenty of time to think about the fight. It promises to be the biggest of his career and Ngalani is excited about the prospect of facing a legend,

“I have a lot of respect for Vitor. He has done tremendous things during his career (and) it will be an awesome fight,” he said.

Ngalani has fought MMA ten times for ONE Championship. His record is 4-5-0-1 while he is 0-1-0-1 in kickboxing bouts for the promotion.

The 45 year old has three spectacular first round knockouts on his ONE Championship resume’ and says that the UFC and Pride veteran Belfort is exactly the sort of challenge he needs at this stage of his career,

“I know that when I am focused I can do great things and I am focused right now. This Vitor fight has fired me up. I’m very excited about it.”
