Kickboxing star Petchtanong Banchamek has signed with ONE Championship. The 2019 WLF <67kgs tournament winner has put pen to paper on a two year contract.
The 34 year old beat four separate opponents to win the WLF <67kgs tournament in 2019. He beat fellow Thai Jomthong Chuwattana in the final.
The following year Petchtanong almost repeated the feat, beating four opponents to book his spot in the WLF <67kgs tournament final but losing by decision to Jia Aoqi.
He has also fought several times for Kunlun Fight. For the last couple of years Petchtanong has been focusing primarily on kickboxing but he also challenged for the Lion Fight 154lbs title in 201, dropping a decision to Jo Nattawut.
Before establishing himself as an international star Petchtanong fought some of the biggest stars of the era at Lumpinee and Rajadamnern. He has been in with the likes of Singdam Kiatmoo9 and Orono Wor Petchpun.
Petchtanong has been in with a couple of the fighters on the current ONE Super Series roster. He dropped a decision Superbon Banchamek at Lumpinee Stadium in 2009.
He looks set to compete at featherweight and Petchtanong is the latest in a long line of big name fighters to bolster this division. Davit Kiria, Sittichai Sitsongpeenong and Superbon have all signed in recent months.
The uncrowned king of the division is Giorgio Petrosyan. He won the featherweight kickboxing Grand Prix last year and is likely to be handed a shot at the inaugural title eventually.
