Seo Hee Ham thought she had booked a place in the quarter finals of the atomweight Grand Prix after being handed a very surprising split decision win over Denice Zamboanga at ONE: ‘Empower’. The Korean will not be feeing quite so confident this evening though.
That’s because ONE Championship head honcho Chatri Sityodtong announced on Facebook that the result is the subject of a ‘formal review’:
The two judges who scored the fight for Ham might be the only two people on the planet who thought she had won. Apart from the Korean of course, who was adamant that she had done enough to earn the nod under the ONE Championship scoring decision.
With the Competition Committee set to review the decision we will find out whether the former Road FC atomweight champion and Rizin super atomweight champion was right. Zamboanga was very upset with the decision and she certainly had a case, is the result about to be overturned?
With matchmakers looking to conclude the Grand Prix by the end of the year the Competition Committee had better get a move on. But fans in the Philippines will be delighted to hear that the promotion is taking another look at this.
