Stamp Fairtex had a big win at ONE Fight Night 6 on Saturday. But she was forced to move up 10lbs in weight in order to take on Supergirl Jaroonsakgym after opponent Anissa Meksen simply decided not to show up.

Afterwards Meksen cited a family problem as the reason behind her unexpected absence. Sources suggest she was still trying to renegotiate the rules for her fight with Stamp on Wednesday.

Meksen and Stamp had been scheduled to face off in a mixed rules match at ONE Fight Night 6. But Meksen reportedly decided not to turn up for the press conference on Saturday because she was unhappy with the format of the fight and wanted it changed.

Despite her absence Chatri Sityodtong announced she would be fighting Stamp for the interim atomweight kickboxing belt as early as January. Meksen told her Instagram followers that a title fight would be next but the Thai made it clear she has no intention of ever facing the French fighter.

Speaking after the fight she said,

I am not going to fight Anissa Meksen because she is not a professional.

Family problem

In her original Instagram post Meksen says she was unable to compete due to a family problem and told her followers that a title fight was next. The latter reference was subsequently removed so it appears the French fighter now realizes she won’t be challenging for a belt any time soon.

But while Meksen’s title dreams are in tatters Stamp is in contention to challenge for a belt in any one of three sports. Afterwards she made it clear that kickboxing and Muay Thai are her priorities in 2023,

Afterwards I called out Janet Todd and Allycia because I want to win the belt for kickboxing and Muay Thai.

Reclaiming titles

Stamp has primarily been competing in MMA during recent years. But it sounds like she will only return to the sport for Angela Lee and plans to take a sabbatical in order to focus on kickboxing and Muay Thai having formerly been the ONE Championship atomweight title holder in both disciplines,

I would like to use this time to reclaim my titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai because I feel sad about what happened with Angela Lee and her family. After a while I will go back to MMA for Angela Lee.

Stamp’s future looks extremely bright and she also picked up a $50,000 USD bonus for beating Supergirl in their strawweight kickboxing contest. The outlook for Meksen is much more uncertain and the French fighter can definitely put her title dreams on the backburner after last week’s events.
