Women’s strawweight title clash to headline Zeus FC 2
The newest South Korean mixed martial arts organization, Zeus Fighting Championship, will introduce its first championship belt on July 7th in Cheongju.
Former TFC title challenger Seo Ye-Dam (4-2) and newcomer Kim Gyo-Lin (1-0) will collide for the inaugural strawweight title in the main event of Zeus FC 2.
Seo (4-2) debuted in professional mixed martial arts in 2016 and won consecutively against Jung Yoo-Jin and Seo Ji-Yeon. However she had a difficult time when her level of competition rose in her next two fights against Weili Zhang and Ayaka Miura.
After the first slump of her career, the 27-year-old Cheongju native came back and choked out Seo Ji-Yeon in a heated rematch at TFC 19 late last year. Then, she headlined the inaugural ZFC event in April and got her second straight rear-naked choke finish at the expense of Hyerin Kwon.
Her opponent, Gumi MMA’s Kim (1-0), i is 17 and competed on the amateur level twice for Road FC’s Central League with mixed results. In May of this year at Kaiser 003, Kim made her maiden professional appearance against Lee Eun-Jung and squeaked out a narrow split decision victory.
The Zeus FC organizers plan to hold four events a year to give opportunities to every prospect in the country and prepare them for the major promotions around the world.
Zeus FC 2 is scheduled for July 7 at the Cheongju Indoor Gymnasium in Cheongju, South Korea.
