Ritu Phogat seems to have put her MMA career on the backburner. The Indian has lost her last two fights and doesn’t currently have any bouts booked but she still sounds happy.

Last year Ritu got married. But while she was able to end 2022 on a high note it wasn’t the best year of her career with the Indian getting submitted in the opening round by Tiffany Teo at ONE 161.

She also suffered a setback at the end of 2021. Ritu was submitted by Stamp Fairtex in the final of the atomweight Grand Prix and it looks like she might go two years without winning a fight.

But the 28 year old sounded extremely upbeat as she shared a photo of herself in the pool with her 1.1 million Instagram followers:

Famous family

Ritu recently announced that she was working on a project with comedian turned Bollywood star Kapil Sharma. Of course Phogat is no stranger to the Bollywood industry as a movie was made about the incredible life story of her and her sisters.

The movie was called Dangal and it grossed over $300 million USD worldwide which was an Indian box office record at the time. It made Phogat and her sisters into instantly recognizable stars in the country.

She was already a successful wrestler before signing with ONE Championship. She won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Singapore in 2016.

Happily married

But while Ritu appears to have reached a crossroads in her competitive career she seems to really be enjoying married life. She regularly shares photos of herself and husband, Sachin Chhikara, enjoying romantic moments together.

It doesn’t look as if Ritu is in a rush to resume her MMA career. She doesn’t appear to be spending much time in Singapore which is where she always trains for her fights.

But while Ritu hasn’t exactly taken the MMA world by storm she has clearly been very successful and is a household name in her native India. We certainly don’t disagree with the 28 year old who declared on Instagram that she is,

Blooming like the most beautiful flower.
