Ritu Phogat is married! The ceremony took place last week and the Indian wrestler turned mixed martial artist shared some beautiful photos with her 426,000 Instagram followers.

She also revealed the name of her husband who is something of a mystery man. His name is Sachin Chhikara and the couple look extremely happy together:

Successful businessman

Reports in India state that Chhikara is a successful businessman who got to know Ritu because he lived next door to her sister, Babita Phogat. Apparently he runs a lead acid battery recycling firm in Sonepat, Haryana, and comes from a family of entrepreneurs.

Ritu proudly announced she was getting married last month and seems to be smitten with her new man. She has posted a series of romantic image on social media with captions like ‘you complete me’ and ‘I’m so lucky to be called your wife’:

But Phogat won’t be putting her career on the backburner even if recent results haven’t gone the Indian’s way. She has lost two fights out of two in 2011.

First Phogat was submitted in the second round by Stamp Fairtex in the final of the atomweight Grand Prix. Then she was submitted in the opening round by Tiffany Teo at ONE 161.

But the 28 year old made it clear that she is not contemplating retirement in the wake of her marriage. Her husband might be a successful businessman in his own right but that won’t stop her pursuing her martial arts dreams.

She even trained on her wedding day and has the photos to prove it:

No intention

Ritu makes it very clear that she has no intention of hanging up the gloves in order to become a housewife telling her followers that,

“We can not escape from the things that are in our DNA. Yes I did my practice on my wedding day and got a photo session done in my gloves too!”

In the west they would probably be embarking on their honeymoon round about now although traditions seem to be a bit different in India. But it is good to see Ritu looking so happy after a couple of career setbacks and we hope to see her back in the cage before too long.
