Martin Nguyen will be back in action at ONE: ‘Lights Out’ next month. The former featherweight and lightweight champion faces Kiril Gorobets in Singapore on March 11th.
Nguyen (13-5) is coming off back to back losses for the first time in his career. He is known for finishing opponents with punches, particularly his overhead right, but has been on the wrong end of knockouts recently.
Gorobets (11-1) is a promotional newcomer. It remains to be seen whether the Ukrainian will be able to travel in order to compete in this lightweight fight with his homeland having been invaded by Russia.
Also added to the card is the rearranged featherweight fight between Kim Jae Woong and Tang Kai The former is ranked #1 while the latter is #4.
Woong (12-4) is coming off the biggest win of his career. He knocked out Martin Nguyen in the opening round at ONE: ‘Revolution’ in September.
Kai (13-2) has won five fights out of five for ONE Championship and is on an eight fight winning streak. But this will be the first time that the Chinese fighter has been matched with a ranked opponent.
The bantamweight title bout between Bibiano Fernandes and John Lineker will finally take place at ONE: ‘Lights Out’. The two were set to face off last Friday but the bout was nixed at the last minute when the challenger tested positive for Covid-19.
The event is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 11th. As previously announced the featherweight title fight between Thanh Le and Garry Tonon will also take place at ONE: ‘Lights Out’.
The two men had originally been set to face off at ONE: ‘X’ last year. But that show was postponed and the fight has now been moved to a different card.
