ONE Championship has added Max FC heavyweight champion Myung Hyun Man to the ever-growing roster of kickboxers. He is the first Korean kickboxer to sign with the organization.
This deal was reportedly made with the blessing of Max FC. The kickboxing promotion wants to provide a platform for Korean fighters to enhance their reputations and earn opportunities overseas.
Retiring from MMA with a 5-3-0-1 record, ‘The Iron Gentleman’ returned to kickboxing in late 2018 under the Max FC banner. After dismantling Ahn Seok Hee in the second round in his debut, Myung earned a title shot against reigning champ Kwon Jang Won.
Five months later at Max FC 18, Kwon surrendered in the fourth round and Myung was crowned the new heavyweight king. He then went on to defend his title by stopping Nisei Yamada in under a minute last December.
As well as competing for Max FC he also defeated Jairo Kusunoki at AFC 9 and Wei Zhou at AFC 13 last year. Myung is currently riding a five fight winning streak that has attracted the interest of international promotions.
ONE Championship came with the most enticing offer and Myung is set to make a summer debut. The 35 year old will compete in the heavyweight division.
Myung joins fellow South Koreans Dae Hwan Kim, Choo Sung Hoon, Kwon Won Il, Kim Jae Woong, Yoon Chang Min, Dae Sung Park, Kim Kyu Sung, Lee Sung Jong, Bae Myung Ho, Kim Woon Kyoum, and Kim Nam Hee in the ONE Championship ranks.
During his MMA career he faced the likes of Mirko Crocop, Aorigele and Mighty Mo while fighting for promotions like Road FC and Rizin.
